Julie Romanin
Therapist
Julie works with children aged 2+, adolescents, adults and families. Julie supports clients including, but not limited to those who are working through a variety of concerns such as anxiety, depression, self-esteem, behavioral concerns, academic success, peer and family relationships, and perinatal mental health.
A primary focus of Julie’s work is providing play therapy to children as young as age 2. Children can learn to process life events or concerns in a developmentally appropriate manner. In doing this, they will gain confidence, independence, be able to express and regulate emotions. Julie uses evidence-based practices through Child Centered Play Therapy, Person Centered Therapy, and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy with a multicultural lens. Julie’s approach and overall goal is to provide services that are developmental in nature and preventative in design to help meet the needs of each client.
Prior to joining the Tabonuco family, Julie worked as a teacher and Professional School counselor in the Mecklenburg County School District. Julie supported students in their academic, social emotional, and behavioral success by working with students, parents, teachers, and other staff members. Julie facilitated growth through individual and group counseling, behavioral support, crisis intervention for those who have expressed suicidal ideation, created student plans for academic modification, and tailored specific goal setting.
Outside of her engagements at Tabonuco, Julie enjoys spending time with her husband and two young children. Her family loves exploring parks and outdoor activities in Charlotte, exercising, and traveling. Julie was born and raised in Pittsburgh, PA, but has enjoyed calling North Carolina home for over ten years.
Julie believes that cooperative collaboration and open communication are vital to the success of the client. Julie is looking forward to walking alongside you as a guiding force on your therapy journey.
