Kimberly Weaver
Therapist
Kimberly works with clients working through various concerns, including but not limited to depression, anxiety, unresolved trauma, and relational challenges. I genuinely find it a privilege to witness and hold space for those in the process of overcoming their darkest moments in life. I approach counseling from a person-centered (you come first) and trauma-informed (everyone experiences some form of trauma) lens and utilize evidence-based (tried & tested) therapies such as Internal Family Systems, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. Additionally, I recognize that one size does not fit all and I believe in remaining culturally sensitive, flexible, and collaborative in my approach to therapy. My work with children includes Client-Centered Play Therapy and Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. I have a particular interest in working with individuals who have experienced racial identity issues & racial trauma, faith-based trauma (church hurt & crisis of faith), and those in need of spiritual refreshing (soul care).
Before coming to Tabonuco, Kimberly worked in higher education, nonprofit management, and philanthropy with a special focus on serving Black and Brown youth and young adults. She also completed a counseling internship in 2022 at Hickory Grove Counseling Center providing outpatient therapy to children, adolescents, and adults. She enjoys spending time with her friends and family, traveling, a good cup of coffee in the morning, and peace found in the spiritual disciplines of silence and solitude.
