Whitney Newton

Whitney works with clients who are working through a variety of concerns. The focus of her work is providing Child-Centered Play Therapy to children as young as 3 years and collaborating with the family to increase parent confidence. She loves walking alongside parents as they seek to become the healing agent for their child! Whitney also enjoys working with individuals who have experienced trauma and uses Eye-Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing to help them resolve traumatic experiences. She honors the bravery and resiliency it takes to seek therapy when trauma has been experienced.

Before coming to Tabonuco, Whitney worked as one of the counselors at Hickory Grove Counseling Center from 2019-2023.

Whitney’s approach to therapy is collaborative, as she aids clients in achieving their personal goals using an appropriate, individualized treatment plan. It is her hope that everyone feels safe and cared for in session.

In her free time, Whitney likes to read, spend time with her nephew and work on creative projects.

• Currently Pursuing Registered Play Therapist (RPT)

• M.A. in Christian Counseling-Clinical Mental Health

• B.S. in Biology from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte
