Training Description
What does it take to sustain a fulfilling and effective career in play therapy over the long term? In this engaging and reflective training, Dr. Phipps shares lessons learned from 29 years of clinical practice, supervision, teaching, and serving children and families. Drawing from personal experiences navigating the challenges, rewards, and evolving demands of the profession, she will explore the realities of burnout, compassion fatigue, professional growth, and resilience.
Participants will gain practical insights into the habits, mindset shifts, and professional practices that have helped Dr. Phipps maintain passion and purpose throughout her career. Through personal stories, clinical reflections, and actionable strategies, attendees will examine ways to protect their well-being, strengthen professional satisfaction, and build a sustainable play therapy practice that can thrive for years to come.
Learning Objectives

Identify at least three factors that contribute to burnout and compassion fatigue among play therapists.
Describe at least three strategies that support professional resilience and longevity in play therapy practice.
Examine how personal and professional experiences influence therapist wellness and effectiveness.
